A rare strand of 76 Saphiret beads measuring 7mm each..Length of strand measures 28" They are unused vintage stock that I have temporarily strung. These are the last ones I have. They glow.... Baubles, Buttons and Beads, The Heritage of Bohemia by Sibylle Jargstorf describes Saphiret Glass as follows:

"Though the original name, saphiret glass, has not survived the years, this was a very popular Gablonz bijouterie glass created in the 19th century. Its bi-colored appearance results from gold, which is added as an ingredient to a basic sapphire blue glass. In the second half of the 19th century, there are references to saphiret glass which fetched higher prices than gold-ruby. It can be found in some of the finest Art Nouveau jewelry."
